Documentation for Immigration must be translated into English. Certified translation by a bilingual person may suffice.
Who can do a certified translation and how it should be done
- Any person who is a friend of the applicant for an immigration benefit (not a relative) with fluent knowledge of the Spanish and English languages.
- You must translate word for word . In other words, a summary of the text it translates is not enough, it must be a faithful and complete translation.
- The translation must be done on a blank sheet of paper, written in legible handwriting and black ink or -preferable- on a computer.

Notes on this translation certification
- Obviously the name or names of the people the document is about and the type of document. The example uses a marriage certificate.
- In Signed , in addition to putting the full name of the person who made the translation, you must always remember to sign.
- The address and telephone number must correspond to the person who has done the translation.

That together with the certified translation in this way, a legible photocopy of the original document that has been translated must be sent . Include the right and the reverse.
Examples of documents for which this type of translation is sufficient
- Birth certificates (known in some countries as certificates) that are included in family petitions .
- Proceedings of widowhood, divorce or annulment of marriage
- Marriage certificate
- Sworn statements about the good moral character of a migrant, which is recommended to include in petitions such as pardons .
